The roof beams went in, with some creative cutting stances from on top of the ladder. Rich cut the first row of L-shaped notches to demonstrate. Another milestone and a relief to get past without mishap or mistake (no big ones anyway, like cutting the pole right off at the line where I should just be making the notch).
Rafters are going in now and I did make a mistake there, forgetting that the spacing for blocking in the central beam will be different than on the sides. By my third row of rafters I was trying to bend a rafter 6 inches to accommodate the mistake. All the measurements seemed correct. It took drawing a diagram on the plywood floor to figure out where I was going wrong. Rich happened to show up with a wrecking bar even before I’d told him what I’d done. He must have sensed the mistake from clear across the property.
